[NU Sports] Luke wins a Cool 1.6 Million

The best answer to this question is found in Lovecraft's tale "The Call of
Cthulhu". Cthulhu is a monstrous entity who lies "dead but dreaming" in the
city of R'lyeh, a place of non-Euclidean madness presently (and mercifully)
sunken below the depths of the Pacific Ocean. Cthulhu appears in various
monstrous and demonic forms in early myths of the human race. Racial memory
preserves Him as humanity's most basic nightmare. Cthulhu is the high priest
of the Great Old Ones, unnatural alien beings who ruled the Earth before
humanity formed, worshipped as gods by some misguided people. It is said
that They will return, causing worldwide insanity and mindless violence
before finally displacing humanity forever.
Cool!

I think I've gotten John's formula figured out.
Take good story about NU (e.g., 7-4 finish and a bowl game, prominent alum
winning golf tourney, Jesus Christ, Buddha, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and
Mohammed show up in an SUV driven by the Virgin Mary and announce their
plans to enroll in NU this upcoming fall).
Find something wrong with it (e.g., wasn't an 11-0 season, NU PR department
failed to get every small weekly newspaper in Bangladesh to write a
front-page story about NU alum winning golf match, NU couldn't manage to get
Cthulhu to enroll).
Send it to the sports list.
;-)
Just kidding, John. Thanks for buying a ticket to the game, sorry we won't
see you there. If you like you could send it my way and I'll find someone
to take it. Or just give it to a kid outside the gates.
Go 'Cats,
Jonathan
