Mark,
I think it was (is) spelled Daigneau, and he was our (semi-) star QB during
the halcyon days of Mike Adamle, Barry Pearson, Jim Lash, Steve Craig and
Rick Telander, among others. I forgot about the broken arm, but I will never
forget Maurie's fateful fumble vs. tOSU in the Fall of 1970 to start the second
half in Columbus, nor will anyone who saw it on the closed-circuit broadcast
in McGaw Hall. All the air went out of our Rose Bowl balloon when Maurie
put the ball on the ground.

Of course, Jack Tatum's hit on Maurie was far from his worst blow--ask Daryl
Stingley. And who was the Coach under whose watch Jack T. became such a
"hit man"--you guessed it, the "Woodman" himself.

I am officially declaring neutrality vis-a-vis the Fiesta Bowl. I honestly
don't care who wins. I'll have more of a rooting interest in the Pointsettia
Bowl. Go Navy! (And I always root for Army.).

Paul Levinson
