The question is simple. Ohio State could be coached by the triumvirate
of Pol Pot, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, and I would root against them
probably 11 weeks a year, but if they faced Notre Shame, they would
instantly be my favorite team, at least for those three hours.
The smiling, arrogant, cloying Charlie Weiss interviews that saturated
ABC and ESPN during the Sunday selection shows only solidified my utter
disdain for that foul, stench-ridden and money-grubbing institution.

I agree with your analysis of Notre Shame but differ with your feelings
about Charlie Weiss. Please read the story I copied below. Weiss and
his wife have a daughter who has a developmental disorder. They created
a foundation to help other children with developmental problems. Weiss
became aware of a 10 year old who was dying of cancer. The boy was
called Montana and not surprisingly developed an attachment to Notre
Dame football. Weiss visited the boy the week he died. He asked
Montana if he wanted to call a play. The boy wanted to pass right on
the first play of the game. He died on Friday and was not able to see
the game. ND got the ball on their own one-yard line. In spite of that
Weiss called for a pass play to the right that gained 13 yards. He was
not cloying or arrogant then. He was just doing what he had promised a
dying boy he would do. I love to hate ND but will not be able to hate
their coach after hearing that story. Read the story below.
