The article cleary states Barnett and his trainer watched the game in
Evanston, I find it difficult to attribute that to poor writing. However,
it doesn't really say he was AT the game, they could have watched a tape
of it on TV a few days later.

Is Barnett's travel schedule a matter of public record? Perhaps someone
should call the CU SID and see if Barnett has been to Evanston in the
last 2 months? I've never dealt with the SID at CU, I don't know how
that office treats Internet lists/blogs. Nebraska's SID usually helps me
out, the last time I dealt with Northwestern's SID I was rebuffed rather
rudely, but that was some years ago, under the previous AD.

The article doesn't claim that. It says he was at a reunion of the
Rose Bowl team DURING THE SUMMER. If it was outside of the football
season it would have been far easier for Gary to go, and barring scheduling
issues I assume he would have wanted to attend. Say what you want about
Gary, but his players do tend to bond with him, as is true with most
top football coaches.

Further, it is not Frank or Bob or any other Lister that appears to have
their facts wrong, it is the writer for the Rocky Mountain News.

Personally, I consider that a more serious issue than if someone had
posted the 'facts' incorrectly here without a source. I will think twice
about trusting the Rocky Mountain News as a fact source, others may too.

But this gets back to an old subject: Are columnists expected to uphold
the same levels of journalistic accuracy and standards as other writers
on staff?
