[NU Sports] Sound familiar? Barnett on the bubble?

I'm just about done with the book that Stewart referred to in his article.
It's called Buffaloed and was written by Bruce Plasket.  It isn't great
literature, but it is an interesting chronicle of PC politics run amok.  It
does paint a fairly sympathetic picture of Barnett.  He is portrayed, at
least in this book, as a demanding disciplinarian who is all football.  

The fascinating irony of this whole saga is that those who were most
interested in getting Barnett fired helped create a financial crisis for the
whole university.  As a result, the athletic department can't afford to
terminate Barnett's contract even if they wanted to.

If you can take Plasket's book as truth, what that this whole series of
investigations revealed (other than the hypocrisy of the community) is that
Barnett ran a clean program before, and runs an even cleaner program since.
It also proved that Barnett has some coaching, recruiting, and motivation
skills to be able to continue to field winning football teams while being
crucified in the media.
