I think we're seeing how valuable TJ Parker was to this team this year
- Vedran is a great player, but he has been the only one to show up
consistently and score points. TJ put some points on the board every
game, but his main contribution was leading a rather complicated
offense. If he would have stayed, the team would have a lot better
chance to put it together this year.

Another problem that has bugged the 'Cats BBall team in the Carmody
era has been lack of rebounding (see the 'Cats football defense under
Walker for a similar thorn). In this case I think it is really the
princeton offense that is to blame - when a long shot is taken or when
someone drives the lane there are very few other offensive players
near the basket. That takes away most chances for an offensive
rebound. On the defensive end of the court, the zone we've used in
the past also does not leave many players in the vicinity of the hoop.
Of course not having a big man who can play consistently has hurt the
team too, but I think combined with the style of play it has doomed
the rebounding prospects for the team.

I do have a feeling the 'Cats will pull off some Big Ten upsets this
year - particularly at home - and who knows, they may be able to put
together some kind of run during conference play.
