[NU Sports] Why did Howard leave?

Peg,
I agree from a purely football point of view there would be a lot of upside
for Loren joining a new high profile coach with the prospect of being part
of Arizona's rebirth under Stoops.
In the same vein, Walker's status could also have influenced Howard. If NU
doesn't do well this year and Walker is fired, Howard's NFL showcase year at
NU would be on a team with a new quarterback and presumably a new coaching
staff.
I lean more heavily on the emotional side, though, and think that this kid
has just been through a lot with injuries and may need to be closer to home
to commit to yet another round of rehab. Think about what must be going
through Rex Grossman's mind regarding his rehab, for example. He at least
has already been paid enough money to have a reasonably secure financial
future.
Jeff

Jeff -
In the same speculative manner, but speaking as an ASU alumna, I'd think
Loren Howard would instead be thinking about Evil UofA, where he could
pretty much write his own ticket immediately upon arrival. If Mike Stoops
isn't calling the Howard household up in Scottsdale as I write, he should be
- and i'm thinkin' Tim Kish (UofA's assistant head coach) has probably
already discussed the matter with Stoops.
