I'm pumped, as I'm hitting the road Labor Day weekend to see my beloved
Cats. But I have a few questions that maybe some old salts can answer:
1) does NGN have a website? If not a website, do they have a booth at Ryan
Field?
2) After breaking the curse against Iowa in 1995, we went to a restaurant
thjat sat right below the Noyes St. "L" stop. Is that restaurant still there?
(P.S. we ran into Lineman Paul Janus and his family; my memory is that Paul
started in the line in 1996, and was a back-up in 1995.)
3) I'm taking my son to his 1st NU game in Evanston (he's seen a few games on
the road as well as the M.C. Bowl); would taking a 14 year old to the campus
be a good idea? He gets straight A's; unlike his Dad!
I still think our defense will determine how far we'll go this season.
There is no one who will convince me that Penn St. or Wisky is better than us.
Our depth has improved, as RW, despite his flaws, is developing a "system",
something GB never did. Even with Rees and Backes not playing, I believe a 4-1
start is probable rather than farfetched. Minimum, we need a 3-2 start, and with
Purple-haze sunglasses on, ASU has it's liabilities; can we start 5-0?
The NIU game should scare us. Novak wants this one pretty bad, as he wants
to get a leg up on recruiting in Chicagoland. I also believe that many more
Huskie fans will be present then in years past.
It's great to talk NU football. C'mon list, it's time to wake up!
GO CATS!!! Eric
