It ain't over but it may be after the 2006 season before they address the
issue again. One reason for letting the winning season rule stay in effect
is the feeling that most teams will schedule one home game against a I-AA
team, which should almost be a "gimme". If so, then you're back to a 6-5
season to make a bowl.
I don't think we going to see any bowls certified for a while either. This
year, the only new bowl-the new one in San Diego -is a replacement one for
the Silicon Valley Bowl that won't be played. Until the scene sorts itself
out and everybody sees how the lay of the land looks, I think we won't see
any new games added until 2007 at the earliest.

In other words, it ain't over yet, folks. This will wind up as another
struggle between the haves and the have-nots, and we all know who wins
that one! I'd hate to see a repeat of 2003 when a 10 win team from the
MAC stayed home. Last year's bowl season was interesting because the
small conferences/schools had a chance to make their case on the field,
with somewhat mixed results.
