[NU Sports] NU vs. Michigan under the lights

 Stephen,

Good overview that I basically agree with.

What I'd like to add to the mix is the prediction that things continue to
unravel at OSU. As much as I've like the way Tressel has coached, I'm not
convinced he's running a clean program. So I think that the off-field
distractions will continue there. I agree that they have a very strong
team, particularly if Troy Smith plays. But what is Tressel willing to do to
keep Troy Smith (and others) on the field? Seems like when OSU loses, bad
news starts to bubble up out of the muck. If these kids start to think that
Tressel needs them more than they need him, things could head south there in
a hurry. Should be fun to watch.

Jeff

Cool ... but I sure hope it's not like the monsoon game the last time we had
an NU-Michigan homecoming in prime time. The stadium should be electric,
though!

That Texas-OSU megamatch may just be the game that determines USC's opponent
in Pasadena. And I see Wisconsin has the Islands Trap we fell into last year
... the Badgers may be on the bowl bubble heading west, so that could be
interesting.

We've had some wicked weather around Halloween here the last few years -
this could be fun. And if it's anything like last year's prime time
thriller, I'll take it!

Bring on the season! I think it's going to be a real interesting year in the
Big Ten. I see OSU and Iowa as the two teams to beat (and two definite Rose
Bowl possibilities for the MNC game) ... but Michigan and PSU (a darkhorse
with that defense back) could also be top 10 teams and we could have a big
battle on top.

After that? Let the scramble begin! Minnesota and NU have a lot returning
... but some skill position holes. MSU and Wisconsin have the talent to be
spoilers, but also big question marks. Illinois and Indiana won't get good
overnight ... but I expect each to pull a surprise this year. And Purdue --
along with us -- is the big question mark for this year for me. What do they
do without Orton? On paper, it looks like they should tumble big-time, but
I've reluctantly learned not to count out Joe Tiller.

A late-October night game in Evanston ... AWESOME!
GO CATS!!!
