[NU Sports] Notre Dame

Much as it pains me to say, I completely disagree.
I'd argue it's the premier job in college FB.
I went there three years ago to do a story on Willingham. The place is amazing. And this really pains me (boss is a Domer) but our country is a better place because of the values ND seeks to instill in its graduates. (Not saying those values aren't taken to heart elsewhere. Just noting that they are a core component of the purported ND experience.)
A cherished value at ND is winning. My guess - I have no inside info - is they believe Urban Meyer is a once-in -a-generation talent, and they have to act decisively to get him.
One more painful admission: college FB is better off when ND is a consistent winner.
Now, from our perspective, life is better when the Cats beat the Domers. 17-15, baby.
By the way, I'd love to see ND in Big 10 and see Cats, Irish square off each fall.
 - Alan

Notre Dame may finally find out the reality of ND football in the 21st
Century. Without a conference it just isn't as an attractive job as it was 30
years ago.
