[NU Sports] Where shall we bowl?

>From what I remember of Chicagoland's attitude towards NU, I think we were
always regarded as somewhat elitist and not really a "hometown" team--especially
when stacked against the Irish and the Illini. Hence, the scant TV coverage.
And I also agree with Roy that the pro sports dominate. Here in New York,
which has a similar relationship with Columbia athletics (although,of course,
"Ivy League sports" is somewhat of an oxymoron), the same situation obtains.
Mark Muirphy seems like a very talented individual, and I have every
confidence in his abilities to keep NU sports on an upward path. But he would have to
be a miracle worker to have Chicago "adopt" the Wildcats as a key component
of the sports scene. They will always take a back seat to the Cubbies, Bears,
White Sox, Bulls, Black Hawks, and Irish. That doesn't leave many seconds
left on a local TV newscast.

P.S.: Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
