[NU Sports] Bowls ...

Picked up a bit today with the Big Ten and our ex-coach in action ... maybe
not a high-scoring OT game like the Boise Bowl, but more interest. Too bad
UTEP fell short ... but that Palmer kid sure looks like his brother when he
drops back and has the uniform on. Not as good, but getting there. And
Barnett sure doesn't look like the rising star in purple on the sidelines
he was a decade ago -- this season really wore on Gary and it shows.

As for the Alamo Bowl, an impressive show by OSU, well *the* OSU and a good
start to the Big Ten's season. Ginn is gonna be a pain in the neck for the
rest of the league ... but I don't think he'll be there through senior year
at least. Still, with all they have back, OSU's gotta be the early favorite
for the league (provided they're eligible for postseason play:) ) and that
September visit to the Shoe from Texas should be a dandy.

Speaking of Texas ... good news for Oklahoma fans! Texas just signed Mack
Brown for another 10 years!:)

I don't expect Minnesota or Wisconsin to do much, but Purdue should win
with Walter out and leave our conference bowl fate up to co-champs Iowa and
Michigan - each with a pretty tall assignment with LSU's D and Texas' O.
