The Curse of the Bambino has nothing on the Curse of the Goat.  For
starters, the Bambino played for the Yankees.  I mean, if you want to
cheer for fascism, go ahead and be a Yankees fan.  Second, the BoSox *got*
to the World Series a few times, they just choked like the Yankees they
all want to be.

That doesn't even come close to not even tasting a pennant since Truman
had to massively compensate for something.  As Steve Goodman once sang,
"you know the law of averages says that anything will happen that can,
(that's what it says), but the last time the Cubs won a national league
pennant was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan."

Now *that's* a curse.  Although I think the Cubbies have had the last
laugh - the Billy Goat Tavern recently closed its Wrigleyville location's
doors.
