[NU Sports] Rick Taylor

At the time, most fans were excited about Kevin O'Neill - he did do some high
profile recruiting, and brought in Jitim Young, among others.  

I'm not sure anyone got along with Gary B his last couple of years. Like it or
not, NU Football was drifting after the two bowl game years. 

A project manager could have rebuilt Ryan, NU probably had one around, just like
they have one for Anderson Hall, but the big job of the AD is finding enough
money, and you have to admit that Taylor got the money flowing back into the
athletic coffers.

As I've said before, Rick Taylor and I had our moments - mostly on e-mail. 

In person, we always had a good relationship.

I think Mark Murphy is an outstanding replacement, but I wonder if Murphy would
have come to NU if Taylor hadn't built the foundation under the present
program's improvement.

Just my thoughts on all this. As an internet journalist, Rick Taylor was always
good for a controversy 4 or 5 times a year.
