Even worse, Tommy Amaker (sp?), a highly regarded Duke assistant at the time, 
was openly campaigning for the Northwestern job. Yes, there was some talk 
that he had rebuffed Northwestern years earlier, but he apparently felt he wasn't 
ready for a head coaching position at that time. But he did feel he was ready 
in 1997, but Rick Taylor, in all his stubborn stupidity, hired Kevin O'Neill 
instead.
