Read on the wire this afternoon that the Pac 10 commissioner and Cal coach
are asking for the coach's poll votes to be made public.
Why? Well, it seems that some coaches dropped the Bears this week to 7th
or even 8th. The previous week, no voter had Cal below $6.
I can see swapping Cal and Texas -- even though I wouldn't after a
10-point win that could have been higher if they hadn't taken a knee at a
tough place in Southern Miss. But dropping them to 8th? That doesn't pass
the smell test.
Hmm ... between SC last year and this Cal thing, the Pac 10 may indeed be
fed up with the B(C)S BS ... let's break away Big Ten and Pac 10 ... let
Fox have the BS and keep our Rose Bowl on ABC.:)
Lots of college football news out west today ... UCLA appears ready to get
a nice apology (lots of good that'll do) for the blown fumble calls in the
SC game (at least the UCLA coach didn't go all Kansas on the refs after
the game and give the BCS another fire to put out this week).
And more notable to us midwest folk ... Tedford signed an extension at
Cal. Taking another rumored candidate out of the Notre Dame hunt. For
those who have old newspaper piles, grab the Trib's sports cover from
Saturday. It's a huge color picture on the top half of the Irish logo with
a big ole' egg on the face. An excellent framing suggestion for Christmas
gifts.:) Meyer? Gone. Ferentz? Signed a big extension. Tedford? Ditto.
Holtz???
GO CATS!!!
