I'll second that -- we can get a tad excited at times, but I don't think
we've ever tried to suppress views. Hopefully not.

Yes - we've come to a nice little agreement that coaches coming off 6 win
seasons won't be fired.:) But seriously, we all have high hopes for the NU
program ... we just differ on the variables along that path, such as time
alloted.

And I'll be the first to admit that I have different standards at different
levels. For the pros, all's fair in love and war (I'm a Saints fan ... I
was a big Haslett fan in year one with the division title ... since then,
he's lost the team ... there's no rebuilding with recruits and such in the
NFL - gotta win now) and boo 'em if they don't come to play. No problem
there.

And at a lot of schools, I'd pull the trigger quickly too (I've been a big
critic of Mack Brown for years - any truth to the rumor that OU threw its
weight in support of a poll bump for the BCS bid just so they could keep
Mack from being fired?:) ) ... but I do think that NU is different. And
it's not the Notre Dame dellusion of being "special" and then axing a coach
three years into a rebuilding process -- it's that we do have a different
set of rules and a big historical disadvantage, so it's not "rebuilding"
but "building from the ground up" ... and that takes time.

But again ... just my opinion. I've been accused of having Purple colored
glasses and of being too harsh (the 2001 season was the only time I've
really felt disappointed and let down by the Cats and I did feel that some
players had "quit" on the season). But all part of the fun.
