[NU Sports] they want meyer

I have an old friend in the N*** D*** athletic
administration who said: a) this came out of nowhere
and b) they want to try and grab Meyer before Florida
does.

I understand the thinking: if Meyer is the next
genius, the guy who can make N*** D*** great again,
get him.

But it's pretty classless thing to do to Willingham
for a place that prides itself on doing things the
right way and talks about values.

BTW my friend mentioned that Willingham's hard-edged
personality did not make him any friends at ND. Still,
I have to think he'll be coaching again soon; ESPN
mentioned Washington. Illinois, maybe? Back to
Stanford? 

I don't envy the new coach. Expectations will be
outrageous, and the 2004 schedule opens with 4 games
of 5 on the road, including trips to Pittsburgh, West
Lafayette and Ann Arbor. Oh boy.
