But, I don’t think it was intended for the fans either. Most of the time it is the coach saying that for the team’s, players and assistants, benefit. It is basically letting the team know it was his fault and he is taking the blame. The team may already know it but in the players position it is nice to hear. I have heard coaches on several levels do that on occasion.</p>
<p style="margin-top:0;border:0">I have seen instances where it isn’t the HC’s fault at all but he says that anyway. He is trying to deflect the blame off his team.</p>
