Didn't Tom Osborne have two safeties switch jerseys (and number) in the
infamous Orange Bowl loss to Bernie Kosar led Miami ? I seem to recall, from
30 years ago, the TV announcers saying that they switched, hoping to confuse
the redshirt FR Kosar.

It's called, informally, the "Lane Kiffin" rule because last year Kiffin had
his backup QB switch jerseys during a game, when the backup QB switched
jerseys from his regular #6 to #35 (same number as his punter) against
Colorado during a two-point conversion play.
