[Husker] Turnovers

It was already 7-0 when that first turnover occurred.  Nebraska did pull back to 14-10.  But then Wisconsin scored 21 straight to take a 35-10 lead before the second turnover occurred.

Wisconsin didn't need turnovers to dictate their strategy.  The Badgers started the game running the ball, and Nebraska simply couldn't stop them.  Turnovers made the game worse, but that was a secondary issue to the inept defense.

I assume you are talking B1G Championship game? We lost three turnovers and got none in return. I know that didn't rack up 70 points, but our first play from scrimmage was a pick 6 to put us down 14. That sure allowed them to dictate their strategy. Run, Run, Run.

Had we had them down 14-0 three minutes into the game, they  may not have had that opportunity.

I've got 63 reasons.... no...wait... 70! reasons why turnovers were not Nebraska's biggest problem this season.  That's not to say that turnovers weren't an issue.

Just that it wasn't Nebraska's biggest problem

Maybe I'll dig into this, but my hunch says that turnovers are, other than scoring defense, the most highly correlated to winning statistic there is.

So, from that standpoint, it's probably not hyperbole to say that turnovers are the biggest problem NU faces.

>> Interesting piece in today's OWH about turnovers. Nothing surprising, but the stats are rather stark: In the 68 games since Pelini became head coach, NU is 35-2 when it wins or ties in TO margin (including 8-1 against ranked teams). When the Huskers lose the turnover battle, they are 13-18 (0-11 against ranked teams).
