Its true. The press (by and large) tends to be a mouthpiece of one variety
or another. Very similar to the early 1800's actually.
Think about what happens some times to local news guys if they write
something critical. Both fans and coaches will call them out maybe even
during a press conference :) For that matter writing the wrong kind of
story could get you an extra dose of TSA massage therapy at the airport as
well ;)
If I were in the news business I'd totally have a proxy/alias to do my
dirty work, and I would suspect this is probably done even for legit
stories.
