[Husker] Wah Wah Wah

I don't think any Nebraska fans expect perfection... But we do demand competitive, which they flat out are not in quite a few games. If you lose 3-4 but are competitive, I have no problem.

I don't want Bo fired, but 4 loss seasons with mixed in blowouts and losses to mediocre teams will not buy you a lifetime contract. At some point we need signs that we are becoming elite.

Bo has his faults, but honestly if he could bring in some stud defensive recruits, I think he could do pretty well. The offense seems to be in good hands with Beck (I am a serious fan), and Bo can coach defense when he's got talent.

The jury is still out, but "not until he has a below .500 season" is frankly absurd for a place like Nebraska and for a head coach making $3 mil. Or standards must be better than that if we don't want to drift further into irrelevance.

>There is an old proverb that states "Perfect is the enemy of good." It sounds to me like a lot of fans want Nebraska to be perfect. I don't see Coach Pelini resting on his laurels that the football is good enough.

>There has been a lot of conversation about Coach Pelini's emotions on the sidelines, etc. Does anyone really think that anyone that passionate about football is happy with a 10-4 record? The previous staff''s tenure was bookended with 5-6 and 5-7 seasons, respectively. Even Coach Solich had a 7-7 season. So until this coaching staffing goes .500 or worse I am behind them.

>Georgia is a very good team. Nebraska played well against them. We need to put the B1G Championship game behind us. Next year is a new season. I used the term 'cake walk' because Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Northwestern, Ohio State, and Wisconsin is very tough schedule. Nebraska only had a loss on the road to all those teams this season. With Wisconsin and Ohio State off the schedule, it will be a lot easier. Of course, Nebraska has all their tougher games all clustered at the end of the season.

>> Nebraska fans want better than 10-4 every year. *I'm sure Bo wants better.* If he doesn't, then he's not the right man for the job. Was this a good season? Yea, it was. But "good seasons" are expected and pretty much mandatory if a coach wants to stick around at Nebraska. At some point, Nebraska has to make the leap from good to great. Every year won't be a great season, but Nebraska needs to show some signs sooner rather than later. I am hoping that this is the bottom, but only time will tell.
>>
>>>
>>> Am I disappointed? Yes, but late season injuries hurt this team. Is is fixable? Yes, and unless Nebraska loses assistant coaches, next season should be a lot better. Nebraska played to toughest schedule in the B1G in back to back seasons. Next year will be a cake walk in comparison.
>>
>> Nebraska is losing their fair share of defensive starters going into 2013:
>>
>> Eric Martin
>> Cameron Meredith
>> Sean Fisher
>> Will Compton
>> Alonzo Whaley
>> P.J. Smith
>> Daimion Stafford
>>
>> As bad as the defense was this year, I sure hope the guys behind them are better. Next season isn't going to be a "cake walk" just because Wisconsin and Ohio State drop off the schedule. Purdue's program is improving, and I believe Nebraska's division will be very competitive next year. Northwestern isn't a punching bag, and we have to play Michigan in Ann Arbor. Another 4 loss season is very possible next season. Of course, there are some delusional fans on huskermax.com who think NU will run the table and contend for a national title next year, but I'm guessing those people are also betting on the Cubbies to win the World Series in 2013.
>>
>> So what am I saying here? Pelini should keep his job, and as long as he wins 9+ games per season, he probably will. I just want to see better results from him. I'm sure he expects the same of himself.
