[Husker] Big Ten to add Hockey

Shawn Eichorst was asked last week about hockey, and he said no, it's not coming to Lincoln.
I was surprised that the B1G went to add hockey; I never thought that Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Michigan State would want to knock each other out of NCAA tournament consideration. But I was proven wrong.
Many people suspect that the B1G is going to push schools to add hockey, but until hockey broadcasts start generating significant money on BTN, I don't see it happening.

In my opinion, it is too bad that the Big 10 is adding the hockey conference. As a Gopher hockey fan, that means leaving the WCHA conference and a lot of instate D1 hockey rivals. It is all about money, but I feel it will hurt Minnesota (Meaning the entire state of Minnesota) hockey. Many of the smaller programs with in the state rely upon the Gophers visiting for a two game series. It sells extra tickets and adds money to the smaller communities. Not to mention the battle between the Gophers and N. Dakota. I know the Gophers are working on a plan to play all the Minnesota teams, but it will not be the same. Besides, who really wants to compete in a conference that has only 6 teams. One team, Penn State, is just starting their D1 program, Ohio State is not very good, so that leaves four teams, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Michigan State. I do not see NW, Purdue, Ill., Indiana, Iowa, or Nebraska adding D1 hockey in the near
future.
Go Big Red!!!
