All the data is available on the web. I've become very proficient at scraping sites for relevant data.
I don't know how to address the locality factor. Others have looked at it, an it's clearly something to think about, but I'm inclined to believe that for elite players 5-, 4-, and 3-star recruits) its a much smaller decision criteria than for less highly recruited players.
I wanted to say that HailVarsity ran a link to an SI piece today that used regression to predict success on the field based on recruiting. Even tho the writer's work was slightly less accurate than simply guessing at the results, I took it to mean that any idiot with a computer is now a statistician.
Not sure where that leaves me...
