I will say, I have heard from recruiting expert that somewhere around 80 percent of athletes go to school either in their home state or in a border state. There is no question that there is a disadvantage to residing in an area with little or no Division 1 talent.

However, I do not think that it is so crippling that it cannot be overcome with a decent amount of recruiting effort. Especially when you're talking about a place with a tremendous amount of tradition and great facilities as well as a significant financial dedication to recruiting resources.
