The other day I saw an article about how the field turf surface on Tom
Osborne field is up for replacement in the next year or so. Here is the

I thought it might be fun to see if anyone had any ideas... serious,
frivolous, or otherwise...for a makeover when the new field is installed.
One comment suggested red endzone with white block letters. That might be
fun. I've seen other schools do some fun things with the end zones,
Tennessee comes to mind, and it looks good. Another suggestion was change
the "Huskers" in one endzone to "Cornhuskers". The nickname Huskers is
great and I use it all the time, but I never say "Nebraska Huskers" or "the
Nebraska Huskers", I always say "Nebraska Cornhuskers". So I'd go along
with if one endzone says "Nebraska" the other feels more right saying
"Cornhuskers". 3 more letters in "Cornhuskers" than in "Nebraska", but I
bet they could paint it to look nice. One thing I thought of was the use
of the plain "N" on the field rather than the Block "N". I know the block
"N" is our official symbol, but I've always been partial to the simple "N"
on the football helmet. And since it is the football field, maybe is would
look good. Some want to go back to real grass, but I kind of like the
field turf. It always looks great, has a good record concerning injuries
to players, and the players seem to like it. Others mentioned the
alternating shade of green on the field. Just for me, I have no preference
there. It looks fine or they can change it up, no strong feeling either
way.
Anyone else have any ideas?
