When he got blasted on the fumble play he stayed on one knee for a minute on the field, clearly dazed, and then went to the sideline. You could see from the replay that he took a vicious helmet to helmet shot. The reporters even commented that he seemed "shaken up" on the play, but that no one was attending to him on the sideline. The (second) hit was well after this one, and I didn't see it, but as I said earlier, he was clearly wobbly after the hit on the fumble (which ironically was the first fumble for him as a Badger, and the announcers even mentioned that he had never fumbled just before the hit).
He may have come out of the game after the second hit, but the fumble play was what scrambled his eggs IMHO.

I don't think he did, or at least that's how it was reported at the time.
