[Husker] Announcement at 11:00 about the future of Nebraksa Athletics

I beg to differ on it being the correct decision.

UNO Wrestling more than covered its costs. The reason given was not $ but
was conference affiliation. But when Mizzou went SEC (which does not have
wrestling) they did not drop the program. Instead they will wrestle with the
MAC teams.

If they had talked to the coach, tossed some ideas about how wrestling could
work in the new conference and nothing panned out, then I understand.
Northern Iowa is an independent school nearby, there are others. There were
options that no one wanted to explore. The people with skin in the game
would have been willing to explore them had they known. But they were not
notified until it was too late

To defend Trev Alberts, many decisions were made for Trev regarding UNO
athletics, and while the decision to drop wrestling was implemented
correctly, so much of that was completely out of his control. About the
only thing Trev could have done different was make the announcement in
person. I don't know if that would have made anybody associated with UNO
wrestling feel any better; I know if I would have been a wrestler, I
wouldn't have felt any better about the situation and probably would have
been just as angry.

Going to be interesting to see who steps up. Jamie Williams and Paul Miles
are the two in house favorites. I certainly hope it is not Trev (I am an
old wrestler and the UNO team handling was despicable). They could step
outside the NU family since hiring from within worked so well with Pedey.
Makes you yearn for the days of Bill Byrne. :-)

Wasn't he supposedly only going to be AD for just a couple of years, to get
us through the disaster years of Pedey-shine and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named?
Seems to me that he enjoys himself, and he got the Department through major
construction projects at the Stadium and the Haymarket basketball arena.
Could another person coming in new have done as much?

If he leaves, its again on his terms. Gotta love the guy.
