That is certainly his most infamous and publicized character flaw, the fact
that he melts down and throws temper-tantrums like a five-year-old to the
detriment of the team (see Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Texas A&M etc.), but
not his "one point". This guy's issues have issues. He is paranoid and
has an inferiority complex and that is just for starters. Everyone is an
adversary. He is a bully, he dislikes and disrespects his own fans, and is
very immature. Example...go back and revisit his "apology" for is A&M
behavior. Aye caramba. But lets keep it recent because it gets too bogged
down. After the Ohio State game last year, probably his biggest, most
exciting win in his Husker career, in the post game presser he decides he's
is going to chastise a newspaper reporter in front of the national media
and instead comes off like a sullen child. Then retreats, as all bullies
are wont to do, when the reporter shows no sign of backing down. More
recent...his bowl game at the end of last year. He is blatantly rude to
the sideline reporter trying to do the "close of half" interview. (this
interview is in the tv contract, he knows it is coming, he is upset that
his team just got burned on a long pass. Of course he is...and he handled
it so well.) In the fourth quarter he puts on his Crazy Bo-face, a
mini-meltdown by his standards. Worse than either of these is our head
coach standing in front of the national media at the post-game and saying
how even though we lost (by 17 points) he thinks we are the better team.
That is a no-no for a head coach. He can say that to his team, he can say
it back in Lincoln to the local media, he can say it later to boosters and
fans, but he can't say it to the national media right after the game. Very
unsportsmanlike. Most recently, he decided that the opening day of the
conference media days was a great opportunity to rag on his own fans. Go
back and read his comments in the entirety, nothing out of context, these
are not complimentary remarks. Dude needs some serious couch time.
