[Husker] Game observations

I certainly am not a football expert, but there are some things that I 
have observed concern me.  First, I feel bad for Maher.  He was a 
pre-season pick for All  BIG10 and 2nd team All American but has not had 
a stellar year.  He is 9/14 for field goals and has shanked several 
punts including a shanked punt that went 16 yards.  I realize that 2 of 
his punts were over 50 yards (he made one of the 50+ yard punts at UCLA) 
but the 40 yarders should have been made especially from a kicker who 
was exceptionally good last year.

Have you noticed the trend of teams punting the ball now have 3 blockers 
for the punter. The center blocker will be on one side or the other and 
when the ball goes past, he will move to the middle of the unit It looks 
like it is very successful in protecting from a blocked punt.  I was 
thinking that something would happen that would cost Nebraska the game 
since we had so many fumbles and lost opportunities, that we would get a 
punt blocked. Can someone who knows football explain why we block like 
we do?

It was a very exciting game and I am so glad we won, but it was 
definitely a heart stopper.
