None of our arguments about the rules make a difference if the officials 
didn't see Stafford being shoved. It wasn't the most obvious thing ever 
missed by an official.

If they had flagged Mumphrey (and then Stafford) it wouldn't have helped 
NU much. When a play has both a live-ball and dead-ball foul, the two 
penalties are enforced in the order of occurrence (Rule 10, Article 6). 
A block in the back puts MSU back to the seventeen or so; the personal 
foul then puts them on the 8 or 9 with a first down.
