The rule is to protect the players, I don't think it should be changed
because of a play that may occur once every 10-20 years.  

If the uniforms had been reversed, and it was a MSU player who ran/was pushed 
into Martinez with no flag, you know there would have been a flood of complaints,
both at the game and on the list.

And in final defense of the officials, they have to make calls in real-time,
I spent at least 10 minutes watching it over and over, one frame at a time,
and it wasn't until the third time through that it occured to me that a
flag could have been thrown on Mumphery.
