[Husker] Nebraska contacts a candidate

I have no inside information to this but would not be surprised if John Groce here at Ohio ended up on the list of candidates. I hope this is not the case when wearing my bobcat apparel, but there are some reasons it could happen.

First, he has developed a strong resume as a head coach. Two conference championships, two dance appearances and one signature tourney win against Georgetown. If he is not on NUs list, he will be on others. I like our chances against Michigan in the first round this year.

Two, he had BIG roots coming from Ohio State. Knows the recruiting and competitive landscape well

Three, he is known by Ross Ells and any former NU people still coaching FB here at Ohio. I don't know if informal suggestions to Dr. Osborne crosses sports like that, but it is easy to envision that conversation taking place.

Four, this happened once before. Danny Nee made the same transition for what that's worth.

All in all, I just want them to find a long term person who will raise the level of the program. I have very torn feelings about us losing Groce, but I think it is going to be hard to keep him after this tourney appearance and if he does go I'd just as soon it be to my alma mater!

I wouldn't write him off, but I hope that he's on their second or third tier of candidates that they might consider if/when everybody else says no/laughs/spit takes/finishes rolling on the floor.
