[Husker] Who replaces Doc?

My opinion only here.  The show cause problem with Pearl takes him out of the running for every team in america.

Kevin Stallings wouldn't even listen if Nebraska called.  He's already in a major conference, and has a top 15 program.

Gregg Marshall may listen if the money is really big, but he really does have a good situation in Wichita.  He doesn't have to compete with anyone else.

I can't see Dana Altman trading Nike U. for the cold midwest again.  Could be wrong.

I like the Bruce Pearl energy, but doubt T.O. goes that route due to his ethics issues.

Biggest sell is gonna have to be the new facilities cause I'm not sure the basketball world doesn't view the job as a football school regardless.  That being said,

Gregg Marshall - Wichita State would be a home run.  Proven winner and high energy guy.  Crazy as it sounds, I think some view Wichita State as a better job then Nebraska right now.

Johnny Dawkins - Stanford, not a big eye opener, but long believed in the Tar Heel state to be Coach K's successor.  Academics and integrity not an issue, and look at what Tommy Amaker's done at Harvard.  Duke disciples might not be bad in Big Ten.

Kevin Stallings - Vanderbilt, shot in the dark, but keeps working wonders in SEC country.

If your gonna open the checkbook and look for a great basketball coach I think the Dana Altman name is to easy and not a splash in basketball circles.  Problem is all 3 are proven good head coaches.  Not sure Nebraska can pull that off right now.

Just my two cents, (which isn't even worth two cents)

OK now that Doc is gone - who do you think, or who would you like to see take his place.

Two names that, in talking with people, I have found interesting:

Bruce Pearl and Larry Eustachy.

Both of those guys would bring attention to the program. I don't think we can settle for a low-key hire this time around, and I don't want to see us go after some successful mid-major coach with no experience at this level. Been there, done that, failed twice.

The Pearl idea intrigues me. He would bring instant attention to the progam and would be a big splash. Say what you will about his history, he is a hell of a recruiter, coach and program cheerleader. Can you imagine the awesome red suits he would wear on the sideline?
