According to multiple sources, including the Freeh report, several
Trustees (including the Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Corbett,
through his previous involvement in the case as PA Attorney General) were
aware of the investigation into Sandusky months before the story broke
in the press, but most of the Trustees were apparently kept in the dark.
Governor Corbett was legally bound from disclosing what he knew, but
anyone with knowledge of what was going on should have recognized
that this was a train wreck in the making once it went public. It will
be interesting to see if he chooses to run for re-election as Governor
in 2015.
Steve Garban, The former chair of the Board of Trustees has now resigned, he
may not be the last Trustee to resign.
