There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a Husker basketball fan. Or
with not being a fan. Don't take any s**t from people who tell you
otherwise.
Personally, I grew up in Omaha in the late 80s and early 90s, and I started
out rooting for Nebrasketball. I loved the Polish Rifle-Strickland-Boone
teams, and I kept with them through the Lue and Hamilton squads as well.
But despite the OWH's best efforts, I soon discovered that there was also a
pretty good team in my town with a promising new coach.
As the years went by, I identified more and more with CU basketball and
less and less with NU. At this point, I root for NU to do well, but I
consider myself a diehard CU fan and I root for them to crush NU every
year. Most CU fans really hate NU, so I try to bridge that gap a bit.
So essentially, Nebraska and Nee and the guys who came after lost me as a
fan.
