I'm not a fan of the antics, but I do feel like a four year window to reach
conclusions is premature about starting rumblings that people may hope lead
to a change (probably in coaches).
Hopefully we see Bo create an organization that builds toward something
positive by year 8 or 9. The college football world is full of schools
creating a carousel in which coaches are expected to get near immediate
results and score style points in the process. One by product of that is
salaries for even relatively high levels of short term success are through
the roof (in my opinion).
Its like an arm's race to find the coach with the magic mojo to add luster
to a school's ego.
So like I said, I'm not a fan of Bo's mannerisms at times but neither do I
want empty promises of sunshine & rainbows. If that's the worst of the guy
then hell, I'll take it. If Nebraska is the school that can lower it's
libido for instant glory to do things right for the long haul, then is that
all bad? If it means 1-2 less wins in the short term can we make that trade
off?
Tom Osborne could have dropped his standards years ago when other coaches
were playing dirty on multiple levels, but to the best of my knowledge
that's not the way he rolled.
Tom wasn't Bob and Bo isn't Tom. Frankly I don't know if Bo will deliver
the goods in the long run, but unless he is causing the program to become
something bad I'm willing to give him the time.
Do what other people do will never make you better than them, it will make
you the same.
