On the Nebraska defensive ends - they were not being unleashed to rush the passer most of the time. They're simply holding their ground and keeping contain, but they weren't supposed to be getting upfield.
Still - you know they're going to throw a hail mary and you blitz no one?
Offensive tackles - oh, lord, were they slow. They were playing against two guys that will be in the NFL someday, but if you expect to have a good team, you're going to have to figure out how to handle them. There was at least one play where Clowney was across the line of scrimmage before our tackle even took his first step.
Nice job by Beck of giving them some help. Nice job by Beck of giving Martinez help when it was clear he was rattled. SARCASM!
Beck tends to get stuck in a rut, like he's just being stubborn. We couldn't handle their defensive line in the second half, so where were the plays to counter that? They weren't there. Holy crap, dude, throw some wide receiver screens and get Martinez his confidence back, then run your other pass plays.
It was a painful bunch of suckage. Maybe we'll be better next year.

I must be spoiled (and probably am) thinking they all need to be Wistroms or Vanden Bosches, but we must upgrade this position with recruiting to get A) speed and B) ability to disengage from blockers. The bowl game really illustrated this.

Having said that, when we did send everybody on the one play we got burned badly. Did this have something to do with Papuchis instead of Carl? who knows. I did see a lot of talk between Pap and Bo during the game.....of course Pap is learning as well.

I like Lavonte David, but even though he is an All American (and I do give him a lot of credit.....see comment about defensive ends above.....he makes up for their deficiencies a ton) he does make poor reads sometimes (got burned on the TD pass on back out of the backfiled) and he does have this knack for rushing the quarterback and missing the tackle which I dont quite understand.

I am not suggesting you have to be, but he doesn't seem to be able to get everyone "in it" all the time. This is a thing that is hard to explain and hard to put your finger on, but the offense rarely seems like they are acting as a team. The backs act as a unit, the receivers act as a unit, the line acts as a unit but the three components do not.
