I may be wrong (probably I am wrong)...But haven't a lot of the transfers
come on the line. I think two on the interior D-Line?

If I am right, I wonder if our defensive scheme has something to do with
it. My understanding from the bleachers is that the interior D-lineman's
job is to collect blockers freeing up the LB's to make tackles. The ends
are the primary pass rushers. With the exception of a very special talent
like Suh, that could mean limited face time and stats.

If the above assumptions are true, the players that are likely to be highly
sought after are likely to be mostly interested as using NU as a stepping
stone to the NFL. If the "scheme" makes that less likely, and you find
yourself surrounded by other very talented folks, trying someplace else may
make sense. Leaving NU with more home grown and fewer star players.

Purely speculation and an intellectual exercise. The jury is still out on
if these transfers really make an impact anywhere else.
