Some stats from the 1996 Fiesta Bowl (Nebraska v Florida);
Rushing yards: Nebraska 524, Florida MINUS 28
I think those are both still records for ANY bowl game, much less
a national championship game. (And keep in mind that most of
the 'experts' had predicted Florida to win, with some going so far
as to say that Nebraska couldn't win on a grass field.)
You could consider last Saturday night karma that was some 17 years in the
making. (I know more than a few Northwestern fans who considered it
karmic payback for the 2000 Alamo Bowl.)
I kind of hope it isn't 17 years before Wisconsin experiences a
similar karmic event.
