[Husker] Regular Season

Obviously the coaches' don't know the meaning of what "complete game" means
either as they use it every week. So why not ask them that question. And you
haven't answered which game or games the Huskers played to their potential.
That is all I wish for as a fan is for them to play the best they can. I as
a fan get tired of them playing like the keystone cops.

Guess I'll throw my two cents in here. If I were asked to "vote" the
season, I'd have to vote "present". 10-3 is pretty darn good even though
the opposition was not that great and in several of those games the
opposition played us neck and neck and due to miraculous intervention we won
in the end. If we play Georgia in the bowl, we likely end up 10-4 and
ranked outside the top 25. That means we graduate in the top 50% of our
division 1 football class (my guess is somewhere in the top 35). When I
graduated from NU (BSME'70) in the top 50% of my class after my brother had
graduated in the top 4% two years earlier, I considered myself a quasi-loser
and asked my parents to stay home and milk the cows on my graduation.
It all comes down to expectations. If you are satisfied with a rating in
the top 50, it's a no brainer to continue on the current path. If you want
top 25 or 10 or 1, things have to change. My observation from the last 4
years suggests status quo for the future. So my question to you positive
thinkers out there is; if the current level of success continues, how long
do we stay the course? It will never be easy and w/o risk to make major
changes no matter when it happens. Having said that, my opinion is stay the
course with some corrections until the end of the current coach's contract.
I think we need to take a hard look at recruiting and why (according to
Husker Illustrated) we bring all those 4 and 5 star recruits to our games
but they almost never commit. And, I think we need to take a hard look at
our defensive coaches and strategy. It seems like (not sure it's true) we
have a revolving door in our assistant coach positions.

Well said Steve! We expect perfection from these kids and coaches and all
too often forget that they are human beings too. Everybody makes mistakes
-- as seems to be more and more typical in our society, we place these folks
on a pedestal for worship and adulation, but then can't wait to push them
off when they don't meet our expectations. Obviously, no one is above
constructive criticism, especially the coaches who get paid well to do their
jobs, but let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. I don't care
who you beat -- a 10 win season is pretty good!
I am quite certain the players and coaches feel badly about the outcome.
The only thing they can do is work to get better.
GBR -- Let's win the bowl game!
