[Husker] Out-Coached

Don, what does our defense have to do with fumbles, interceptions, and offensive penalties??
I seem to recall those issues contributing greatly to our falling behind in several games.  Tonight's game was a bit different. But I can't buy-in to your premise that it has been our D that is to blame for the Huskers falling behind is so many games.

No, I don't think we should fire Pelini; however, I don't believe NU should
give him another extension until he proves he can put out a consistent
product. It's the Jeckle and Hyde makeup of his teams that bother me the
most.  I'd rather have an 8-4 season with 4 close losses than a 11-3 season
with 2 or 3 blowouts  I don't believe the current defensive staff at NU is
as good as advertized.  They seem to be totally surprised at the start of
games.  That's why we have to come from behind in so many games.  Against a
good team you can't write off the first half watching the play to see how
you adjust for the second half.  I read that our defensive coordinator is
the youngest in college football.  That tells me he is very green and
doesn't have the skills yet to make the adjustments he needs to.  He may end
up being a terrific coach.

Looking back at Pelini's career, I've wondered if he isn't college
football's equivalent of Phil Jackson.  A defensive genius who has made his
reputation by showing up on teams that have great talent (OU & LSU) and has
success because of that talent.

I read that Monte Kiffin resigned his job as defensive coordinator for his
son's team.  I'd sure like to bring that guy in to mentor our defensive
coaches.  He resigned because of poor play by his defense this year but
based on his success in the NFL he is one of the most highly respected in
all of football.

My two cents as usual is worth the paper it's written on...

I hear you Don,

But be honest, BP has gone from a genius for x amount of consecutive wins to
goat in 96 minutes. We have a Pick Six on a decent pass and deflection.

I give you the D is not playing well, but this is a 10 win team. Are you
suggesting we fire another coach after a 10 win season. We were the laughing
stock of the country the last time we did that.

35 - 10.  Most pathetic display of Husker defensive football that I have
experienced including the Callahan era.  If the WI coach doesn't call off
the dogs they are going to hang a hundred on us.  Do you think it might be
time to take our rose covered glasses off and evaluate this coaching staff
on performance instead of potential?

Maybe the problem is that the Badgers didn't take a late morning nap.
