I am not trying to be oppositional and I agree with the recent opinions. I
am no football coach. I think it is strange that some individuals believe
that they can evaluate football potential better than the coaches.
I tend to think that coaches who watch the players daily have a better
opinion of their ability than I can assess from a few plays on television,
or by report (newspapers).
I may be wrong. I define this statement as: If players consistently leave
a program because they cannot get playing time, and then go on to another
FBS team and perform significantly better [rankings of selected team] then
a coaching change is in order because the program has problems identifying
talent.
I don't think many cases meet this criteria at NU, or at any other
university. That is why I don't think I should be a coach at a FBS
University.
Thus, when a FBS coach makes a decision that one kid is better than
another, I do not have the ability to critique that decision. I am not
siding with BP, BC, FS, or TO on this. I just recognize that reading a
paper, or watching a player on a finite set of plays on television does not
trump anyone else's opinion.
