John, this is a good thread with which to start out the week. My particular expectations for this year are to look for improved (and more consistent play) in a number of areas, including QB, offensive line, defensive line, and corner backs.
As for overall expectations, I am looking for fewer than 4 losses and a bowl win. I hope for better than that, but this is my personal view of "eyes wide open" this year.
I'm anxious to get through Southern Miss and UCLA to see what we've got...

With the opening game of the season looming ahead it has been VERY quiet on Husker List. I think Mike Nolan is right in that the List is no longer the main source of new Husker information it used to be and more are finding their own source of Husker News. With that said, here are a couple of thoughts about the game against Southern Miss.
The Huskers are very healthy and 3 deep at RB. Hopefully this will give allow Taylor to only throw on a sure catch.
I watched the Big 10 and ESPN college preview for the Big 10. No one is expecting the Huskers to win their division, let alone the Big 10 Championship. Nebraska plays 4 teams from the Big 10 that are in the top 20 and one in the top 10. I for one am not sure what to expect this year. Last year I thought Nebraska would win the Big 10. Going in with eyes wide open this year.
