OK, it is spring. Everyone is a contender in the spring. RBs who gain 200 yards in the spring game are not seen in regular season.

So what am I thinking so far?

OL could be pretty good. I was impresses that the 2 strongest guys on the team are Choi and Pensick, likely starters at G and C (both with a 456 lb bench press, which is pretty freaking good). LG and C were the 2 spots I was most concerned about.

DT depth in the spring is poor, if guys still are not healthy in August this could get ugly. That being said, Williams and Randall are mostly healthy (though not a lot of work in the spring). Hope Rome and Peat are ready come the fall. It is going to be hard for Peat and Williams to make a move on the depth chart missing the spring.

DE talent has not been there. Meredith is a solid DE, but we do not have a true pass rusher on the other. NU has to get the sack/pressure/hurry numbers up without blitzing.

LBs should be very good, barring injuries. There is a significant drop between 1 and 2.

DBs should be pretty solid as well. Sounds like there are at least 8 guys
the coaches feel good about, so there is talent and depth.

RBs, we have Rex and hope that the backups can give him a breather. I do not want to see how indestructible he really is.

WR/TE talent, spot players. NU will never have AA WR's or high reception TEs. If TM can get them the ball more consistently and they can HOLD ON TO THE FREAKING BALL WHEN IT IS THROWN TO THEM, life will be much better.

Everything falls to TM. It is interesting to read about the footwork issues he had and are finally getting it worked on. But then it makes sense. He started as a DB/QB on the scout team & was ignored (as scout teamers are).
Came from nowhere to win the starting job under Watson. Next spring he has a new offense and OC (Beck) so learning a new system took priority to working fundamentals. Now the same system two years in a row.

Andy
