WRT young people's tastes in clothes, it helps me have perspective
to remember the clothes I wore in junior high and even high school
in the late 60s and early 70s.  Fortunately, we outgrow it, but it
wasn't so bad to have a little fun with what you wear.  You can
only smile remembering the funky outifts of Sly Stone and others
at the far end of fashion.
