Veteran Marine is good. He was honorably discharged so that's not an issue. I think if you're not honorably discharged you really can't call yourself a Marine!

According to Wiki, 'Veteran Marine' seems to be one alternative, though
the question of how to address someone who was not honorably discharged
complicates things.
