I really need to answer this and then we'll move on.
I made an observation; not a personal attack. It boggles my mind that

I wasn't offended in any way by any comments here, and I'm certainly not
offended by the Huskers carrying the flag onto the field. There are a
number of things that offend me, but this isn't one of them. (Not waiting
until the color guard has at least left the field after the national anthem
before moving onto the next big thing is one, but that's another story.)
I appreciate the story behind it, and I'm glad I was able to read it.
Mostly because if someone had to read it to me I would have a hard time
understanding it...I'm almost deaf from a mortar round in Baghdad a few
years ago. So let's not make this a for/against the military issue. I've
paid my dues too.
To me, I just think the flag should should be bigger than sports.
Visually, it gets lost in the chaos on the sidelines. That should never
happen. I guess I just think that our flag, especially one that has the
backstory that this one does, should be treated with a good deal more
reverence than is happening on Saturdays.
Thanks for hearing me out. Isn't it awesome that we can disagree on
something like this yet still stand shoulder to shoulder cheering for the
Huskers?
